Is the SPAR Polo Vivo competition real?
Yes. SPAR South Africa hosts the campaign artwork, information schedule and full promotional terms on its official website. Those rules identify SPAR Encore as promoter, GEN4 Foods as co-promoter, the six Polo Vivo prizes, the automatic Rewards-card entry mechanism and the regional finalist process.

What exactly can you win?
There are six new 2026 Volkswagen Polo Vivo vehicles, with one allocated to each SPAR region. SPAR states an approximate retail value of R275,199.98 including VAT for each car. The promotional schedule does not identify a detailed derivative, engine, gearbox, colour or optional-equipment list, so finalists should wait for written prize confirmation instead of assuming a specific specification.

Who is eligible to enter?
The rules state that entrants must be South African citizens, possess valid South African identification and be at least 18 years old. They must also complete the qualifying purchase at a participating SUPERSPAR and use a valid SPAR Rewards card.
A potential vehicle winner must hold a valid South African driver’s licence at prize handover. A person without the required licence can be disqualified and replaced by another eligible participant from the relevant region.
Members, shareholders, directors, employees, partners, agents and consultants of the promoter, co-promoter and listed connected organisations are excluded, together with specified immediate family and other related parties. How much does it cost to enter?
There is no separate competition ticket price, but this is not a free-entry promotion. Every entry requires the purchase of at least one qualifying SPAR Polony product and a valid SPAR Rewards card swipe at checkout.
Do not buy more than you would reasonably use only because multiple entries are permitted. Additional qualifying products increase the number of entries, but they do not guarantee finalist selection or a vehicle.
How are finalists and winners selected?
The first stage is a random draw from valid entries received at participating SUPERSPAR stores. The official schedule says six finalists are drawn for each SPAR region. For a particular region, all finalists are associated with one participating SUPERSPAR: the store linked to the first finalist drawn becomes the store from which the remaining regional finalists are selected.
The finalists must then attend a pre-arranged event at that specific SUPERSPAR. Each finalist present chooses a random SPAR product hamper, and one hamper contains the keys to the regional Polo Vivo. The person who finds the keys wins that region’s vehicle. SPAR says the event proceeds with however many of the six finalists attend.
The random processes are to be independently supervised. Because reaching the finalist stage is not the same as winning the vehicle, entrants should be cautious about messages that claim a car has already been awarded before the store event and verification are complete.

Finalists are contacted only by a SPAR representative using the contact information attached to the SPAR Rewards card. They must be physically present at the stated regional store, date and time to remain eligible for the prize unveiling.

Which vehicle costs are included?
SPAR and GEN4 Foods state that they will cover delivery of the vehicle to the relevant regional SUPERSPAR. The co-promoter will also cover vehicle registration and licensing fees.
After handover, other expenses are for the winner. The terms specifically mention motor insurance, fuel, maintenance and any applicable taxes or duties. A finalist should arrange insurance before driving the car away and obtain independent tax or financial advice if necessary.
